The Honourable Anthony Albanese PM visited the University of Sydney to deliver an address on "AI in Australia's Interest" and announced the launch of a new Office of AI within the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
He spoke about legislating a national standard for AI, outlining policies including Australian standards for technology and expectations of big technology companies.
While on campus, a handful of the University's key AI academics were given an opportunity to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss their research.
Professor Melissa Baysari was selected and discussed her work on improving the fit between AI and clinicians and her new "Centre of Research Excellence in AI-enabled Clinical Decision Support".
