Aug 27, 2026 | News

In August 2026, Dr Ann Carrigan, Tamasha Jayawardena, Selvana Awad and Prof. Melissa Baysari facilitated a learning lab at the Health Innovation Community (HIC) digital health conference, held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney.

The event focused on turning groundbreaking ideas into practical solutions that transform healthcare.

The learning lab, “Heuristic Evaluation in Action: How Much Does Expertise Matter?”, was attended by 20 participants, who were introduced to usability and heuristic evaluation, a common usability evaluation method. Participants gained hands-on experience applying the method to a real-world scenario, guided by the research team. Their responses were recorded as part of the learning activity. Participants were also given the option to have their data included in a broader research study investigating the relationship between levels of expertise and the number and types of usability problems identified during heuristic evaluation.
